T1961 Smaller Trunk with Brass Buttons from right around 1870 or so, we think.  Nice size for a typical bedroom, measures 28 inches long, 16 inches front-to-back, and 15 inches tall.  Might even be a good coffee table.  We’ve polished up the brass tacks, protected everything with our tung oil mixture, so this one is ready to go.

Important:  The lock comes with one key, but the key is for show only – it does not work the lock mechanism.  Also, the hasp that drops down from the lid does not have a bale on the back (the part that goes into the lock) so even if you find the correct key some day the lock still will not lock.  Got it?  Cool.
