Spare Trunk Lock Keys
Key Style #1
Excelsior T-46K
These nickel-plated steel keys fit many locks made by Long, American, and others,
many of which will have the letters code T-46K stamped on the lock.
Also fits codes 7201, T-44, T-45,T-46, T-47, and T-51.
These keys are flat and about as thin as a dime.
Chances are pretty good that if your lock has a plain narrow slot like the one shown above (left) this key will fit.

These are hollow-shank keys that are intended for decorative use only.
They look nice and in some cases you may be able to file the business end of the key
to get it to work your lock, but there are NO guarantees, and these keys are not returnable.

Small Barrel Keys - Jewelry Box Keys
Key Style 16
(Note: Key 4 is shown here just so you can compare the sizes - you can purchase Key 4 by scrolling back up this page.
Key style 16 is a very small cast barrel key that fits things like jewelry box locks. Each of these keys is
1 and 1/16" long and has a hollow barrel that's about 1/16 of an inch, inside diameter.
Key 16 has a 'flag' piece at the end that's about 1/8" long and it extends out from the shaft by about 3/32"

More Small Barrel Keys
Key Styles 19 and 20
Key styles 19 and 20 are very small nickel cast barrel keys that fit things like jewelry box locks. Key19 is 1 and 3/16" long and has a hollow barrel that's about 1/16 of an inch, inside diameter.
Key 20 is 1-3/16" long and is solid - NOT a hollow key - and is small - about 1/16" in diameter along the shank of the key. Small flag at the end for working the lock mechanism.
Keys 19 and 20 are sold two at a time, 2 keys for $10, and this includes shipping to any USA address. Key 19 is available in two finishes, as shown. Key 20 available in brass plate only (gold in color).

Key Style 17
Key style 17 is a double bit key that was used on clocks, jewelry boxes, bureau drawers, and some chest locks.
Each of these keys is 2 and 1/2" long overall and has a solid shaft that's about 0.165" (larger than 1/8 of an inch), outside diameter.
Key 17 has 2 'flags' at the end, so that when you turn it the key can work two mechanisms at once.
Key slot should have a round hole in the middle, with an overall straight width of not less than 7/16 of an inch.

Key Style 18
Key style 18 is a nickel plated steel key (silver in color) that's really just for decorative use - it's not intended to work an actual lock.
It looks nice just hanging on a chain around your neck, feels good jangling around in your pocket.
This key is heavy - weighs 0.7 of an ounce, and is 2-7/8" long overall. Shiny metallic silver finish.

Small Keys for Necklaces
Lightweight brass keys have a ring at top so that you can string them on a necklace or just dangle them in the air.
Style A is a little over 1-3/4" long. Style B is about 1-3/8" long. Style C is about 1-5/8" long.
Style D is about 1-1/2" long. Style E is about 3" long. Style F is about 1" long and looks like a ring of old skeleton keys.
Second photo shows the backs of these keys. Take a close look - these keys are hollow on the back -

Cheesy Brass Keys in Antique Brass
Misc. Styles for Display or Give-away Use Only
These are cast brass keys in an antique brass finish, and they're about the size genuine older keys, but these are flimsy and NOT made to open any locks.
None. No Locks. No lock shall be opened by these keys. Got it? They feel like a miniature key, look like a key, but will twist and/or break if you try to turn
a lock with them. Still, they look great! Photo on the right shows the types of styles you can expect to receive - random selection, these are only about 3/4 to ONE INCH LONG.

CODED TRUNK LOCK KEYS
First, a word about keys for your trunk lock. We've heard the sad story a million times. Your trunk is locked shut, might have a treasure map inside or a document signed by Abe Lincoln or cold hard cash. Look, let's face facts -
- Fact #1 - The only thing in that trunk is an old dirty t-shirt that your Uncle Sid left in there by accident just before he snapped the lock shut. Maybe the key is in there too.
- Fact #2 - We might have a key just sitting here in the barn, already made to fit your lock. We carry a few of the very common styles of ready-to-use trunk lock keys. We also carry a long, long list of older keys that we've collected over the years, coded to match your lock (scroll down this page to see the current list of available keys, please). We have a dynamic collection of old, original trunk keys from various makers. If you can find numbers/letters on the lock, check our list of available trunk keys (just scroll down this page). These replacement keys are priced at $25 each, which includes postage to any USA location. Expensive? You bet, but we don't make these keys, we have to go out and find them.
- Fact #3 - As a last resort, we can make a key to fit the lock on your trunk, but you have to remove the lock and mail it to us - read on:
There's one other option. Visit your local hardware store and ask them for the Universal Trunk Key. Works great and looks exactly like either a crowbar or a sledge hammer*. Imagine that.
* On an interesting note, last year we had 13 individuals call us to buy a Universal Trunk Key that they had read about on this web page. We asked each one of them if they were sure that they wanted to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian. Some folks just don't get it. Look, Jack, it's a crowbar and you have to tear the lock apart to open your trunk, OK?
